Aims Community College Welcome Center – Renlita

Creating a Flexible Indoor-Outdoor Performance Space at AIMS Community College

The AIMS Community College Welcome Center in Greeley, Colorado, was designed to be far more than a student services building. Serving as the heart of the campus, the 105,720-square-foot facility brings together academic, social, and community spaces that encourage collaboration, connection, and engagement. To help achieve this vision, Powers Products partnered with Hord Coplan Macht (HCM) and Fransen Pittman Construction to furnish and install a custom Renlita vertical-acting door that transforms the building’s signature auditorium into a truly dynamic event venue.

Transforming the Auditorium with a Vertical Acting Door

Located at the rear of the 1,600-seat auditorium stage, the impressive 36′-6″ wide by 16′-3″ tall Renlita counterweight-balanced vertical lift door serves as both an architectural feature and a highly functional building element.

When closed, the door creates the backdrop for indoor performances, presentations, lectures, and campus events. At the push of a button, the door lifts vertically to open the stage directly to the adjacent courtyard, creating a dramatic reverse stage that seamlessly connects the interior auditorium with the outdoor gathering space.

This innovative solution allows AIMS Community College to host concerts, ceremonies, student activities, and community events that engage audiences both indoors and outdoors while maximizing the versatility of the Welcome Center.
