Forest City Stapleton Office
The Forest City Stapleton Office Building was designed to deliver a modern workplace environment that balances openness, collaboration, and occupant safety. To support the building’s life safety strategy while preserving its architectural design, Smoke Guard elevator smoke containment systems were installed at the elevator openings throughout the facility.
Elevator hoistways can create a pathway for smoke movement during a fire event, making elevator smoke containment a critical component of a building’s overall fire and smoke protection strategy. Smoke Guard elevator smoke curtains automatically deploy upon fire alarm activation, creating a smoke-resistant barrier at the elevator opening to help prevent smoke migration between floors and protect building occupants.
By utilizing elevator smoke containment technology in lieu of traditional enclosed elevator lobbies, the Forest City Stapleton Office Building was able to maintain open floor plans, maximize usable square footage, and create a more welcoming workplace environment. The concealed Smoke Guard system remains hidden above the elevator opening during normal operation, preserving clean architectural lines and uninterrupted sightlines throughout the building.
Ideal for commercial office buildings, Smoke Guard elevator smoke containment systems provide a code-compliant alternative that enhances fire and smoke separation without compromising design flexibility. The result is improved occupant safety, effective smoke control, and a seamless integration with contemporary workplace architecture.
Powers Products partnered with the project team to provide design assistance, code-compliance expertise, and professional installation of the Smoke Guard system, delivering a reliable elevator smoke containment solution that protects tenants, visitors, and property while supporting the building’s overall life safety objectives.
