National Hispanic Cultural Center

The National Hispanic Cultural Center is a premier destination for art, history, and cultural expression in New Mexico. To protect these valuable public spaces while preserving an open and inviting visitor experience, Smoke Guard M2100 smoke containment systems were installed at the front desk entrance to the facility’s art galleries.

Designed to provide automatic smoke compartmentation during a fire event, the Smoke Guard M2100 deploys upon alarm activation to create a smoke-resistant barrier that helps contain smoke and maintain tenable egress paths for occupants. The system supports the building’s overall smoke control strategy while remaining virtually invisible during normal operation, allowing visitors to enjoy uninterrupted views of the gallery spaces and exhibits.

Unlike traditional fire-rated doors or permanent barriers, the Smoke Guard M2100 integrates seamlessly into the architecture, preserving openness, sightlines, and accessibility without compromising life safety performance. This discreet smoke containment solution is particularly well suited for museums, cultural institutions, galleries, performing arts centers, and other public assembly spaces where aesthetics and occupant experience are paramount.

By incorporating advanced fire and smoke separation technology, the National Hispanic Cultural Center enhances occupant safety, supports code compliance, and protects valuable artwork and cultural assets. The installation demonstrates how modern smoke containment systems can be successfully integrated into architecturally significant environments without detracting from the visitor experience.

Powers Products partnered with the project team to provide design assistance, code-compliance expertise, and professional installation of the Smoke Guard M2100 system, delivering a reliable smoke containment solution that helps protect both people and property.
