Spectacular, Sustainable Sierra Grande PK-12 Campus
Settled below beautiful Mount Blanca, the new Sierra Grande School utilizes “Passive House” building envelope technologies to deliver energy and cost savings to achieve an award-winning “future proof” building for the community.
Designed by Cunningham, the Sierra Grande PK-12 Replacement School recently received an 2023 Design + Honor Award of Excellence and Sustainability Recognition by the Colorado Chapter of The American Institute of Architects, recognizing Colorado architecture firms, projects, and architects for outstanding design and exemplary service.
After much debate on whether to make renovations or build a new facility, the Sierra Grande School District advisory group and Board of Education deemed it necessary to rebuild a new school that would replace the original 1956 building in the best interest of students.
IMPACTFUL DAYLIGHTING
The Powers Products daylighting team proudly consulted on this project, contributing daylight studies and assisting with the selection and specification of both translucent panels by Kalwall and tubular daylighting devices by Solatube.
